As a cobbler have made some reference to these in other postings. Noticing an increase at work in being asked for them and wondering why so asking what opinion on Board is. Do you use them? If not why not? If you do, why do you like them?

What are general opinions about them? Also does everyone know what they are or should I market better in my work?

Dead popular when I was at school at Cargilfield. Usually used to signal the end of a Labour Government.

True. Blakeys in your tasseled loafers, but not in your DM's.

All the rage in the early 80's - great kudos to be earned by having the most segs in your riders/brogues.

Running full pelt down the polished concrete floor in the school corridor to skid to a halt in a shower of sparks hehe

blakeys

used to have them fitted to shoes before but I don't anymore as I tend to walk heavily on my heels and have had the odd spill

They are metal tips that go onto the heel or sole of shoes mate. Great for business shoes/formal loafers. I can also supply/fit if anyone wants any let me know

no nuffin to do with bubbles, its all about tonic suits, white bens, loafies, Brut or Aramis.
loafies had segs or if you were made up you had quarter irons fitted.
knicker dropping combination never failed.

When attached to footie boots these gave you a useful edge in the tackle.

ah yes indeed, the harrington was day wear for the tonic suit wearing oik. it was generally worn with levi staypress. pale blue being favoured if i recall. white socks.
funny if you look back but the yoof of that day were much better dressed dressed than the trainers and hoody lot today.
bunch of scruffy twunts now.
we had crombies and ties and brogues and all sorts.

I remember you could get sparks off them. but if I remember correctly I used to have horse shoes on the heels. It used to be very noisy at school on those wood floors.

Very popular at my school in the 70s. The more you had stuck in your soles and the more noise it made, the harder you were.
