Not personally - although that may come into it.

But sensibly and realistically.

What will Britain be like in five years time? Similar to today, better, worse?

Will this recession be a fading memory? Will Gordon Brown be Lord Brown?

Where will race relations be, and will a change of Government have made any real difference, if there is a change?

It's the classic interview question - where do you see yourself if five years time?

I asked this question in work the other day about what the country will be like in ten years time, quite a few people thought that the bnp will be having a major say

Interesting. That is a worry.

Whatever is going on at the moment, somewhere something has gone wrong in race relations. This seems to me to be a result largely of misguided government policy. My concern is that too many mistakes have been made for too long to repair the damage now.

Do you work at Daily Mail HQ?

I think things will be very much the same. Although, I'll probably have kids, have very little spare cash and drive a family car.

I guess it depends whether the population wake up or stay asleep. I think they'll stay sleeping and Britain will continue to slide backwards. Eventually something will have to snap, but I can't see what or when.

I think there will be a lot of "Falling Down" guys/gals walking around after been hosed by this Government and the effects begin to catch up with them.

On lots of little tv screens, contained in many databases "for our security and safety" and generally controlled because we live in a dictatorship.

We got into a mess due to debt. The debt needs to be repaid asap

but our beloved leader thinks that more debt is the answer and recovery will follow.
This recovery will probably be short term, after all there will come another point where the debt has to be repaid and there is no more to borrow.

I think 5 years sounds about right.

No, just a normal conversation with people of all sorts of up-bringing. I expect the'll be even more big brother cameras, we may all have identity cards, we may all be governed by the Green party.

You never know Tottenham Hotspur may be playing in the Champions League biggrin

The country will be so broke and people desperate for wokr that we'll be cheaper than India and China for labour and with all producers of cheaper tat relocating here, the new impetus will start a wave of patriotism and the Albion Tiger will commence.

it won't & the country will still be on it's knees governed by fkwits, sad but probably true

You lot are a bunch of miserable sods aren't you.

Questionable though our great leaders are, Britain does have one thing that a lot of other countries don't, and that's a world leading Engineering and Scientific prowess.

Living here means you don't appreciate how important the UK is in terms of technological advancement.

When I was at Uni back in '99, my tutor was always banging on about his specialist subject, which was the great new idea that was going to take over communications which he was part of developing. You could drive your car up to a petrol pump and start filling up without having to pay (car would talk to pump to identify you), toaster would talk to the kettle to time your breakfast properly and so on.... Bored me to tears.

As it happens, we're just starting to see some of these devices filter though on a relatively small scale so far. It's called 'bluetooth'!
