Sri Lanka suicide bomber pictures
Discussion
Needless to say, the content is both horrible and horrifying and at the same time far more graphic than I expected.
Pop goes the weasel
What is really striking is how far into the sequence it is before the crowd in front of scene actually react.

I suppose that's because the actual time frame of a bomb going off is about a second or two. Amazing pics though.

RoPers, presumably?
Tamil Tigers, from what I can gather they are predominantly Hindu and Christians, and the video shows them attacking a muslim ceremony. From what I remember the Tigers, (LTTE: Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam) are muslims who came over from India long ago, and, as usual with muslims, decided they wanted a patch of dirt for their own, with them in control. Now the Sri Lankan government obviously weren't happy with that, so a long and bitter struggle ensuded. At one point, early eighties, the Indian army was called in to help sort things, and they just went full scale bonkers, killing and raping all and sundry in north eastern Sri Lanka.
I was there in 1990, a short while after the worst of the carnage had died down, and the east coast of Sri lanka was like a battle field, with burnt out hotels and stuff in the places there had once been a thriving tourist industry.
A couple of weeks ago I dug out and read my backpacking diaries from those years long ago. Quite stirring stuff, how brave and fearless (stupid?) I was back then, riding on the back of a milk tanker just to get the final leg to the east coast of Sri Lanka, as no other transport was running at the time.
