Evening All,

I know that Pher's charity has been called upon a few times recently, but since this is an issue not often discussed I hope some feel its worthwhile.

As a chap with the wrong brand of jeans, Mrs Gargamel and I have had a number of lost pregnancies/miscarriages, however we are lucky enough to have completed our family ( we have three children)

But in recognition of the excellent support and work of the Miscarriage Association, I agreed to run this years London Marathon to raise funds for them.

This is a difficult topic but since one in four pregnancies is miscarried I am sure others must have been affected, and the NHS can't offer any support until you have lost three ! The MA provide counselling and an excellent telephone support line as well as plenty of information and practical support. In my experience understanding why it has happened/or what went wrong is crucial to putting it into perspective.

Anyway, if anyone is moved to sponsor me in my laboured attempt to get round the 26 odd miles on April 26th then please visit www.justgiving.com/cataylor

Many thanks for any donations for what is in my opinion a worthwhile cause.

Anyone else running London ?

(Mods - I have checked this with Garlick before posting - Thanks)

Thanks for the donation BigTee

I knew that raising funds for these guys would be quite difficult. There probably are a couple of other charities out there that have a harder time raising cash... The one to help resettle ex cons into the community for example.

However I knew that miscarriages or early pregnancy loss was not something that people want to talk about...Which is exactly why the charity exists... what do you say to someone who has lost their baby.

What could anyone say really? It's a very personal issue.

So based on what you posted, you have to go through the pain of losing three children before the NHS will help, but they'll do boob jobs or gender reassignments after a psych profile and a couple of meetings? Could this country get it's priorities anymore fked up?

Glad I'm out of it tbh.

Couldn't find a catchy thread title ... unsurprisingly

Thanks for the donation, much appreciated.

Yes we couldn't get a diagnosis from the NHS until after the third, although it took a while eventually we did get seen via the NHS by an specialist Geneticist who was awesome. although strangely like the Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse doctors, clearly a genius but hopelessly disorganised/scatty !

No this is my second marathon, but my first road race. Last year I ran the Beachy Head marathon, which was a great day out, so I thought whilst I was in reasonable shape I would run London.

I will have a look over there, I know there are some other Pher's running London
