Because I've been awake for over a day now and don't feel too tired. I may just pass out in a few, but still... I hate it when this happens. All productivity and life goes out of me - I end up sitting on here all day. Hang on...

I think they did a reality TV show somewhere (probably Japan) where you have to stay up.

People got to about 6 or 7 days without dying.

You can die of it though IIRC, although I'm out like a log for at least 8 hours a night, so unlikely to be cause of death.

Don't know the exact measurements. I'm guessing it's probably just over a week. For me, it'll be 3 days, then i'm in a coma for the next 2.

People die in it, sometimes, so sleep can be as dangerous as the lack of it.

The record IIRC is 19 days by a Chinese victim of torture.

Basically he was kept awake as a form of torture and died.

I think the Symptoms are similar to shock, but don't quote me on that.

Depends how much whizz I got left.

There was a programme the other week about it, 11 days is the world record. They also showed a piece where an American car dealership had a stay awake competition to win a car, one guy flipped and did a Micheal Douglas falling down moment.

Lack of sleep is linked to all sorts of accidents from Three Mile Island to the Exon Valdiz.

I remember that, in the end didn't they have to let them sleep for an hour a day because they all started hallucinating!

The security guard on the night shift on the main gates at Brands Hatch has a medical condition which makes him unable to sleep. He does the night shift there then goes to another job in the day. He reckons that he doesn't sleep for weeks at a time, then sleeps for about 24hrs solid and its enough to see him through the next few weeks.

The world record is eleven days and the person that did it didn't die, in fact they said "I wanted to prove that bad things didn't happen if you went without sleep".

Whilst at university I pulled a few all-nighters on doing coursework or going out. Best I've done is around 36 hours before I just had to sleep.
Wwhen at school a couple of mates had a competition for who couldstay up longist. Winner was 3 days.

I managed to avoid crashing my car while driving in Spain and having been without sleep for a little over 40 hours.

Have no desire to do it again though.

Nope.

Even the official unforced record is longer than that, 13 days IIRC.
