[pendant]At the time of the fire to which this phrase relates, the fiddle had not been invented. Nero infact played the bagpipes, which were of Roman origins and brought to Britain by them(/pedant]

Besides which, knowing the EU, they are more likely to be Tromboning than either fiddling or bagpiping. biggrin

Apparently, all that kilt stuff was invented by clever little Victorian English tourist moguls, when going to Scotland on holiday became fashionable.

I also read once that whisky wasn't even theirs.

So, no bagpipes, no tartan, no whisky and obviously, no oil. wink But they did invent the TV, which means they invented Jeremy Kyle. biggrin
