Did anyone watch the programme on Co-19 (The met firearms team) last night?

It was a fascinating programme, but what shocked me was the stats they listed. 70% of the people they stopped for suspected firearms offences were black, and 50% of the shootings were against black people. This is against a backdrop of an 11% black population in London.

What an impossible position the police are put in within London with respects to claims of institutional racism, and racist stop and search tactics. Especially given the statistics.

I believe it's "SO19".

59% of rape suspects also fit a certain demographic. the stats were released a few years ago by a cheif of police but you try finding them now!

break that down.
small percentage to start with
on the whole women do not commit this crime
neither do children
not really an old mans crime either

so a small percentage of a small percentage are suspects in 59% of one rather nasty crime.

just talking about this means we are racist by default This thread will probably be deleted

It would be a waste of time to stop and search more white, middle class, middle aged women for guns... although it might look good from a statistics viewpoint. 0% of stop and search people carried firearms.

Important word being suspects, I wonder how good the clear up rate is for said crime scratchchin I believe it's fairly low.

You could say that they aren't suspicious of the 'right' people in the first place, non?

Darn! When I called it CO19 Tuscan Rat told me it was called SO19. I've just checked the Met website and you are quite correct.

are you suggesting that the rape victims are not able to describe the correct colour of their attakers? or that they deliberately lie?

wtf, can you read? feel free to point out in my previous post where I insinuate anything of the kind. Alternatively just make something up and just type away as if it's fact.
Or you can pass the crack and I'll join you on whichever planet it is you're on

digger calm down.

Sorry if I missunderstood your post.

what did you mean about not looking for the right suspects in the first place? not sure how else to understand what your point is in the context of what I wrote.

ps look above. I asked a question and put a question mark. there are better ways to explain yourself than go on the attack and name call. if thats not what you meant then just say so.
I asked I did not make a staement or make anything up as fact. just trying to work out what you were on about.

My point was simply to outline that for some reason my implication that as there is a small clear up rate that the suspects may not be 'correct', to a generalisation alluding to the integrity of the witness.

Feel free to explain how you went from one to the other - I simply see no connection (hence crack references etc)

I take it all back, didn't realise. I read the (brilliant) book "The Good Guys Wear Black" where they were called SO19.

So, why the change from "S" to "C"?

I watched it last night.

Right at the start Ken Stott said "2 people are shot every day in London".

I commented that it must get very boring for those two people.

well the mrs must have slipped some in my tea or I am being stupid in the extreme today.(not unusual)

"for some reason my implication that as there is a small clear up rate that the suspects may not be 'correct'"

The only way I can interprit that is that you are suggesting the victims are lieing? how else could the susspects not be correct?

really scratching my head on this one, can you help me out without the insults?

Doesn't CO stand for Central Operations? (Central Operations Specialist Firearms Command (CO19) to give it its full departmental title.)
