Don't think I have the guts, but it looks fantastic fun!!!! Anyone been? How do they get back up the mountain? Helicopter? Seems like a bloody long walk.

Looks superb!

I have base jumped a couple of times just in regular kit without the 'suit', and that was the single most scary/exhilarating thing I have ever done, even after many free-fall jumps under my belt.

I'd love to try a jump in one of those suits, must be an even more hightened sense of 'flying'.

Do you recall the challenge they did on Top Gear, where the chap from the 'Red Freds' jumped from a helicopter and raced Hammond, who was driving a Porsche Cayenne. That was pretty cool stuff..........and he won!!

It's not "flying" unless you can go back up again.
It's falling with style.

Hit the ground, yes, probably.

Mid-air collision, more likely to just be knocked out, which in turn increases the liklihood of hitting the ground smile

There was a chap who tried to do a full 360 of the burj in dubai, but there were too many wires, so he's now trying to get them to let him do it officially as an opening ceremony.

Cripes, it's not often I see something on the internets that amazes me any more, but this just did.

He can't surely have meant to buzz the road that closely ?

I live in Norway, and it takes forever to drive back up these snakey roads (think Italian Job). You have to time it just right or you'll end up stuck behind a German in his Hymer plugging along at 5mph.

Again, that just shows the extremes that those guys in the first clip are taking it.

Indeed, but not likely to be a problem in base jumping!!

Knowing me I'd smack me head off the bridge strut or something whilst climbing on it.... But then the sign in the plane is clear - if at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.....

I only managed 6 jumps as it was taking up all my weekends which I simply could not spare. I am still not giving up though and will, time and money permitting, get an AFF course done - because my long term aim is to BASE jump Angel Falls. My OH is not as pleased with this idea as you might think...

You?

150-ish jumps. B Licence.

Base jumping is on my 'to-do' list. Quite fancied Bridge Day as an 'easy' way in. Closest I've got was jumping from a hot-air ballon in Florida (it was one one of the Hot-air ballons featured in the start credits of the 80's/90's programme 'Don't try this at home'!)
