It's got lots of Gower telling the presenter "now hold the bat like that, no round here". It would have worked on television but it completely fails on radio.

Don't have speakers.

But is it actually about a blind man trying to play cricket or something?

Heard the first part of that series, where he trained to be a vet and spent quite a lot of time with his hand shoved in unpleasent places - a horse's mouth, a cow's arse, a dog's armpits etc.

Apparently in a later programme, James May teaches him to fly.

I never understand Radio and Tv haters. If you don't like it. Don't listen/ watch. Is that such a hard concept?! confused

Would you go up to some old lady in the street and tell her knitting is for s?

Each to their own.

I don't think the idea of the programme is bad, just the execution of that episode.

If he is blind, the point behind it is surely that he can't see, and neither can you...

Although I haven't listened to this program so it could be rubbish. The flying one sounds interesting...

The way it works is this- you never watch a certain presenter's program. You avoid it. Then it, and they, become 'popular'. Before you know it, your favorite programs are invaded by this person. They are a guest on Richard & Judy. They appear on Children In Need. They win awards at awards ceremonies and give sh&t speeches. Every poster on every bus shelter has got their smug, self satisfied fat grin on it promoting some god awful ghost written biography about how they used to like shepherds pie and live on a council estate. Your supermarket frozen section becomes full of boxes containing meals endorsed by this person. They release a single, so even if you avoid their own show, you still get bombarded when you listen to somebody elses.

Finally you break, and write a long and pointless rant about what a c*nt they are on PH.

I don't hate TV or radio, I find the self-aggrandising content of that show, and the majority of that station, utterly wasteful. I don't listen, other than when my housemate has it on. As for stupid old ladies sticking their knitting in my face, well that is for s. You're not an old lady are you? If so I apologise, now go knit me a jumper with some reindeer on, it's a bit parky.

That is pretty much my attitude, hence the reason i have not listened to Radio 1 since the early 90's. However i do sometimes question the validity of me having to pay a licence fee to the BBC
