Fitting wooden flooring - advice please

I have bought some tongue and groove oak flooring for my hallway from B&Q and I'm planning on fitting it myself within the next few days. It is going to be laid on top of existing floorboards and I'm not sure whether to hidden nail it or use the self-adhesive polyolefin underlay that claims to "revolutionise" the way solid wood floors are fitted. Does anyone have any experience of fitting T&G planks using this underlay? Durability? I don't want to have to do the job again in a couple of months time if the boards start to work loose.

I used it to lay around 50sqm of wooden floor around a year ago. Pretty easy to use and no problems one year on.

Bloody expensive for what it is, but did make for quick and easy laying.

I've got a spare 10m roll in the garage if you're local...

I'd use a breathable but heat insulating moisture barrier under it, (spend a bit here, you wont regret it!)and "float it" either with glue or interlocking depending on its type.

Rent one of them vibrating saw things to do your door jams etc to fit it underneath and lift skirtings if you dont want moulding in the expansion gaps. Dont skipm on the expansion gaps either, nothing worse than a bulbous floor ....!!
