Groceries Home Delivery - Tescos Rubbish - Anyone Good?
Discussion
Anyone use Occado, or anyone other than Tesco or Sainsburys? Sainsburys went downhill rapidly so we switched to Tesco who are useless beyond contempt. Final straw was on Monday when the van didnt turn up, so I called and asked where it was, only to be told it had broken down several hours ago but it is policy not to phone customers until after the delivery slot has ended - i.e. when its too late for me to go out and do the shopping myself. Checked internet banking just now and found that they had billed me £130 for the delivery anyway and according to tesco, its my banks fault I don't have the money refunded yet..... err, no Tesco, its your fault for taking the money in the first place actually. Surely there must be a company who can deliver what you order and in the timeslot you agreed?
Sainsbury's are worse... Last time I placed an order (about 3 weeks ago), more than half the things I ordered were unavailable. They substituted 3 of them. Hopeless. This was the first time I'd used them in ages because they always used to do this, but I thought I'd give them another try. Won't be doing that again.
Ocado, on the other hand, are excellent. They always arrive on time (or phone to say they'll be early and ask if it's okay to call round), they rarely run out of stock and their substitutions are logical.
Forgot to say - shopping online with both Tesco and Sainsbury's, there have occasionally been items missing but these have always been credited back to me with no problems. With Ocado, there's never been anything missing but inevitably a couple of things have got broken. They always credit the full value of the item back even if the damage isn't extensive enough to warrant binning the item. (Had the driver point the damage out to me!)

Another for Ocado here, they are just brilliant, polite, efficient and have never let us down - normally ring to see if they can pop round earlier!
When my Mrs had a screaming one-year old in her arms the guy not only brought everything in, but also put things in the Fridge and Freezer for her!

Ocado is the way to go, don't bother with anything else. Contrary to popular belief it's no more expensive than the others either.
They're always on time or phone if they're early, and very rarely cock something up. They do tend to pack a bit stupidly sometimes (bottles on top of bananas springs to mind), but you just go online and get a refund for the item, job done. Definitely recommended.

used them twice now, very good service, they even text you to let you know the name of your driver etc.
