Etiquette – Putting kisses on messages, etc.
Discussion
I’ve noticed that women seem to put ‘X’s on everything – texts, e-mails, cards, you name it… even when they’re sending them to other women. What is the etiquette for putting ‘X’s on things when you’re a bloke? Obviously you don’t put them on things to other men, unless you want to trap a thick ‘un, and you do put them on things to your OH… but what if you have a female friend who you like, and don’t want to scare her off with over-familiarity, but do want to imply your fondness in a non-threatening way?
Sh*t, have we really reached an age when we feel the need to perform due diligence before sending a fecking Christmas card? !!!

That’s the thing – I want her to read something into it, but without implying over-familiarity. Sort of… “I want to be with you one day, but I realise we won’t be dashing off for a shag this lunchtime”.A1GOY said:
I was once told that one 'X' on an email/text it's just an 'I like you as a mate' thing, but three means that you're interested in hopping the good foot anf doing the bad thing.
Three would definitely be too much, but I want to say, in an un-threatening way, that I really like her.JJCW said:
If you wouldn't kiss the person, don't put the kisses on the message
Well I’d bloody-well like to
I put one x at the end of every text/email/whatever to people I know, regardless of gender, except to my old man as that would be weird.
Not really sure why I do it, just a habit nowadays. Although sometimes I'd forget and the ex gf would always pull me up about it.. 'wheres my x' etc.
Women are mental.

If I did that to my mates I would get some very swift responses telling my to feck off!Not really sure why I do it, just a habit nowadays. Although sometimes I'd forget and the ex gf would always pull me up about it.. 'wheres my x' etc.

If I did that to anyone other than my wife and my mum I would also get a similar response from the misses.

This over-ananlysis of texting and other b
ks believes me to think the whole world is f
ked.
My mate (40yo - single) seems to spend ages analysising texts from different women - it drives him mad and me too when he prattles on about it
He sent his current gf (slovakian, but complicated) one in the morning as she was on a course and then waited anxiously all day as he didn't get a reply ... was she in a train crash? Had she secretly been seeing someone else and run off to Felixstowe wiith them? If he were to text again without first getting a reply would that be paranoia?
FFS! the dozy bint had left her phone at home all day by mistake ...
Not having one at all sure does make life seem uncomplicated.

Its like how do you end it, yours faithfully, love, regards, kind regards, or just the name and then do you put the x or xx or xxx ! its a mindfield.
You have also go to cover your tracks a bit incase the wife happens to see the message and gets the wrong idea, but at the same time you may want the receipent to get the right idea!
as well as shred/delete the messages from sent/recevived/trash trouble is you then forget what you have said and how forward/reserved/brave you have been. DoH
