Ok Charmeleon (sp)

Mum picked up a clients pets tonight (the RSPCA didn't want to know) so we have a Parrot and a Chameleon lodging with us for now.

We've been reading up on Chameleon care but he looks a bit in shock, eyes closed, tail curled clinging to a branch.
There was a heat lamp and a UV lamp that are both on now but he/it could have been without for up to a week!

There is bark stuff in the bottom of the case but it really needs changing, it's quite smelly and I think the beast had shed a skin or something had died

Can any resident lizard keepers give me some tips for looking after it (if it doesn't die of shock) please?

They can be quite delicate! Keep warm, give some fresh water, make sure enclosure is clean. Have you fed it? Live bugs etc, may need some persuasion if in shock.
Contact a vet!!

Thank you, going out to buy some bugs and new bark chips.

Poor thing, its home is a real mess. The Parrots water was green and lumpy, he was panting a bit last night but seems alot calmer today and is whistling away

I bought some meal worms and crickets, but he's hiding in the top of the case.

Do I just let the beasties out in the housing and he'll catch them? I tried passing him a worm (on a fork ) but he wouldn't take it.

The client disappeared up to a week ago, so he must be starving!

Put meal worms in a small dish (jar lid). The crickets (I assume they're alive) can just hop about, it will encourage him to hunt.
If he won't eat you really should contact a vet or lizard expert/enthusiast (I'm just amateur!)

Could try putting the parrot in with the cameleon, thats bound to get some movement out of it.

The Parrot, he's a noisy thing, seems quite happy. The owners called him Spud!

Has the carmeleon moved much at all?

I hope they're not in the parrot cage, they would be able to fly out between the bars!

I put the fire on low and closed the door, just been for a peek, he's moved down to where the bugs are so I put the rest of the crickets in, he looks happier - if you can tell when a Chameoleon is happy

What's the stroy? You Mum's client has left them alone for a week - how did your Mum get them then? Is he coming back? Do they need new homes?

(I think I may know someone for the parrot if so!)
