Washing Machine HELP!

Hi, need some advice, we have a 2½ year old Whirlpool washer/dryer/ tsunami.

We washed and dried a few items (2 towels, baby trousers and a baby top) a couple of days ago, these were then left in the machine (dry).

Then this morning came down and there was a small trail of water leaking from the front corner of the machine, at first I thought it was the drainage port but that was dry. So I decided to open the machine and see if the clothes were damp. Que tidal wave of movie proportions, the whole drum had filled with water! I managed to shut the door, but the towel was stuck in the door so it wouldn't shut, so I had to open it again to push the towel back inside. I then got a washing up bowl and emptied the rest of the water - Another 3 bowls full.

So can anyone tell me what happened? and recommended me a new washer/ dryer (it has to be a washer/ dryer as there just isn't the room for separate machines and we need the dryer with the little'n

Maybe the solenoid on one of the inlet valves is slightly open and allowing water in, other than that, RTFM!

I had this happen several years ago due to ice opening the valve a little. If it was freezing round your way last night, this may be the problem.

If it's clean water in the machine, would suggest Phumy is probably correct. If it's dirty water; check that there is no blockage or partial blockage to the waste pipe (assuming the WM waste is connected to the sink waste pipe), as it could be water from sink flowing into the WM. Other than that, could it be that 'little fingers' are involved?

Could also be caused by lime scale if you live in a hard water area

Thanks guys, yes it was cold last night and it was clean water, the cat's even decided to taste it

It's also a very hard water area, and we haven't been using the calgon

This isn't the first time it's happened but by far the worst.

Any recommendations for a replacement?
