What is it with all the miserable gits moaning about Christmas?
If it’s not harping on about people putting up their decorations early, its people crying about the Xmas adverts on TV.

FFS, It’s CHRISTMAS!!!!!

Remember, when you were young, how excited you (no, not you jamoor) used to get?
Seeing the tree and decorations up? Hearing Carol singers in your Village? Seeing people generally cheerful?

I love this time of year and get just as excited by it now even though I’m 31 years old.
I have lots of nieces and nephews who are all at the age where it’s still a magical time for them and I’ll be damned if I’m not getting involved as much as I can for fear of upsetting some miserable old tosspot!

And to those PC cocks who say it offends muslims/non-christians/aliens, etc… fk OFF! It’s Christmas, and if you don’t like it, go somewhere where you can hide until it’s all over!

No it's not Christmas! It isn't Christmas for another 3 weeks or so, and it gets rather tiresome being hassled from all angles to go and spend money, 2-3 months before the event, from companies who see Christmas purely as a business opportunity.

I love the 3 days or so I usually spend with my family but the commercialisation I can do without.

A recent post I put in a Christmas topic:

Eddh said:
Its just the whole thing really, its so fake:

Having to pretend to be nice to people you don't like, the "Christmas cheer".

The fact that it starts in October or something stupid like that.

The stupid Christmas songs that get done to death on the radio and you can't go anywhere without hearing some st band belt out a song that if it wasn't a 'Christmas song' everyone would think it was st.

People getting stressed out about buying presents for people they haven't spoken to all year probably don't acturally like but still feel the need to waste money on st presents that they are going to throw in a corner and never look at again.

Christmas cards (see my post in the 'Christmas' topic on the last page.)

People going 'only xx sleeps until Christmas' make me want to stab them in the eye with a rusty fork.

Recieving gifts that you know you are only going to throw in a corner and not look at for another year.

The bath salts that my brother buys me every year without fail.

Carol singers who come wailing at your door and then threaten to stab you if you tell them to fk off and don't want to give them any money.

The 'Churchies' who go round the pubs at Christmas time singing carols and wishing everyone Merry Christmas and then ratlle their fking collection fking bucket in your face. I don't want to donate any money to your fking church I don't go to church I don't like religion now fk off. They then scowl at you as you wave them off.

People 'calling in' to wish you Merry Christmas who turn up expecting a drink and don't even come round with a bottle of wine or anything with them. They then promptly drink all your wine and fk off. (although I do have a rather copious wine celler).

People dressing up in stupid fking costumes.

I could go on but I'm bored for now.

But why do you have to succumb to the 'modern equivalent'?
It's what you make it.

Not really, no. It's already been said about a billion times already, and the only thing worse is the false bonhomie of people like you, who would normally be spraying piss-boiled bile all over the forum.

So please, by all means continue to display your forced joy and good will to all men, but can you just shut up about it.

Because it's "modern equivalent" is blasted into ur homes on the TV and radio. Then if you go outside it's forced on you in every shop and bar. Short of being a hermit you are forced to experiance it.

My memorys of christmas? Being forced to put up the bloody decorations again. It's not fun, it's fking boring. Yes geting presents is nice. But buying them is 10 times worse. I'd have sooner been forced to spend the money on myself and then we'd all show what we got at a nice family meal. But noooo that wouldn't be int he spirit of stmass.

There is just so much build up and hype but when it actually occurs, it's not as good as the hype.
Well, that's my conclusion anyway, a bit like weddings.

+1, though I'm not that sure about wanting to see _all_ the family either...

Did anybody see the piece on the BBC news a week or so ago. About christmas cards. And the fact many people no longer send them. As it turned out it was all the men they asked who didn't send any. It was just Women getting all hippy and stuff who decide everybody should send them as it spreads peace and love and some other crap.

Could it possibly be that christmas (As in the October 1st to 23rd December Christmas)is something that just Women and more girly men enjoy.....

No it starts on Advent Sunday through to Epiphany.

This year 30th November to 6th of January.

Or do you mean the modern equivalent? Will you be opening presents on Christmas day?
