1% = £1000/month for me so I have all my fingers crossed at the moment

I struggle to believe that they'll cut it to 2%. Perhaps that's just wishful thinking though. frown

I'd like to see a negative figure, that way they can pay me for being in debt wink

Should: Cut 0.5%
Will: Cut 1.0%
Difference: Postpone the inevitable, a little bit.

Another 0.25% will see my Nationwide Base Rate Tracker collared at 2.98% so any further reduction won't help me anyway but I suspect it will be another 0.5%.

From what I've read on here consumer electronics are going to rocket in the new year due to the weakening pound and inflation in the east. Unless they manage to knock items related to this sector out of their beloved basket, its going to be very hard justifying cutting rates in the new year when these things are pushing inflation figures up.

On the back of that, I reckon they'll do 0.5% now and hold hoping they can do another 0.5 around February time. Although, they could do a whole 1% now and then they have 0.5% to add back on (largely for show imho) in February should the inflation from the east have a large enough effect for people to start questioning them.
