Above average savings interest rate?

OK so the cut in interest rate has done wonders for my mortgage payments, but crapped out my savings rate.

I diversified into metals a whilse back, but am looking to put the bulk of my savings into something safe that pays a bit more than the 2.75% offered by my ING account. Anyone got any suggestions? I'm not too fussed if the money is tied up for a while as it'll be there until I pay down the flat in a couple of years (if the master plan comes off!)

I recently stuck a load of dosh into Bonds - as advised by my IFA. Can't remember the rate, but it was north of 5%. It's tied up for a minimum of 6 months (I think), but that's fine with me.

Halifax have a few fixed rate deals for terms from three months to five years :-

Only gotcha is you need to open a variable web saver first, but you can always do that then just leave a small balance in it. I've just parked my 09/10 ISA allowance in a three month jobbie. I think Tesco are doing a decent (~6%) rate, but I believe that's variable.
