Any charity experts? Need to see if there is a scam going on

As the title says.

I have become aware of a "charity" that is being run by a well known scam artist and con man. Though before I go all medieval on his ass I want to be sure of my facts.

They don't have a registration number, it is supposedly pending. As far as I'm aware you need to be registered BEFORE you start acting as a charity. They have been operating for some time as well.

I won't go into too many details on here before I know a bit more.

Basically, what can I do about it apart from chasing the fecker with a shotgun and a big stick?

I would suggest contacting these people.

They tend to take a dim view of this and have been known to be very co-operative with Police and HMRC when the need arises.

Just noticed you stay quite near me with the local chat thing, and been hearing stories about a local charity lately.

The Charity Commission will confirm whether or not they're legitimate. If they're not, the Inland Revenue, amongst others, will be interested.

It seems this particular "charity" is already under investigation by the charities commision. They were registered, but were struck off a couple of years ago. The guy running it is a convicted Arsonist and Fraudster (convicted of a £5 million fraud back in the '80's).

The Police and inland revenue are very interested and there seems to be a large group of people getting pitch forks and burning torches ready for this scum bag.
