Getting ready for a load of heavy lifts over the weekend. My favorite site vehicles are very busy this afternoon...

If you travel through the Dartford Tunnel and come out onto the Essex side, you will find the channel tunnel rail link passing beneath the spans of the Dartford bridge. Its surreal and I always think of Thunderbirds when seeing this. I'm sure there was an episode when a runaway train threatened to take out a road bridge or similar............sorry a bit of topic but it is a real life/Thunderbirds crossover.

The Red Fagioli SPMT's (Self-propelled modular transporters) are good for just over 150Tonnes each and can be used in tandem for bigger lifts as below. The Other one is unknown. It's owned by the shipyard and they throw anything at it and hope for the best. Last week they tried to move a BOP (280Tonnes) and it promptly blew a hydraulic line and pissed fluid everywhere.... hehe

Very nice.
Mammot heavy lifting and BAE systems in Barrow have some the same.
280t for a BOP? to big for my little boat. I only have a 250t Kenze crane to play with.
Mind you its the little lifts that catch most people out

I followed them red trucks somewhere a couple of days ago. One was on the back of the other going somewhere, maybe down on the M6 near Brum. I noticed the elaborate hydraulic mechanism that pushes the hitch pin through where the trailor goes.
I like Thunderbirdy things too. biggrin

I used to do some machining and fab for ALE (Abnormal Loads Engineering), when they were based in Stafford many years ago, pivot pins, lifting eyes, etc.
