Can we really buy our way out of a recession? Will it really work? Why wasn't it done before?

And where are we getting this money to loan to Iceland, give to India etc?

Our recession wouldn't be half as bad, or we'd not have one at all, if it wasn't for Brown's handling of the economy since 1997.

And of course almost every other economy in the world as it has entered recession, through automatic stabilisers.

Gordon Brown believes he can stop the earth's natural climate processes - halting a recession in it's tracks presents no difficulty to such a man.

King Canute actually tried to command the sea to prove to his followers that it wasn't possible and he didn't have God-like powers.

Yes you can spend your way out of recession, but only if you adhered to the first part of Keynesian economic strategy... i.e. in the rich times, cut your spending, pay of your debts.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keynesian_economics
Keynes advocated what has been called countercyclical fiscal policies, that is policies which acted against the tide of the business cycle: deficit spending when a nation's economy suffers from recession or when recovery is long-delayed and unemployment is persistently high—and the suppression of inflation in boom times by either increasing taxes or cutting back on government outlays

They've given Kerry Katona a gastric band to stop her eating the profits, thus saving them money rather than us giving it to them.

“We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.” Albert Einstein…

And translated for the benefit of Gordon Brown: “Even more cheap borrowing won’t solve the problems that have been caused by too much cheap borrowing”.
