Just been to co-op to buy my fish finger sandwich ingredients.

Bread - Check.

Fish fingers - HOW MUCH!!! - Check.

Get to the checkout as usual get looked at like the social pariah I am for actually wanting some means of carrying my goods back to the car.

WTF!

The carrier bags feel like a used condom now? It's some kind of slippery rubbery feeling plastic.

Sinister I tell you. Sinister.

Go to Morrisons - nice big strong carrier bags, free of charge and no leftie politics.

I don't buy any more than two items in my Co-op now. As I explain to the confused bird on the checkout, 'I'm sorry but I only have two hands and you don't do carrier bags any more'.

God, you insensitive fool, do you not realise that fish die a slow and painfull death, usually by suffocation when caught? You're fueling the need to catch more fish with you're fish finger buying!

Yes but I heard they throw the fish back once they have cut their fingers off?

Paper is even more friendly to well everything. If people used logic, would go back to paper rather than the pathetic excuses for bags ever.

I know how you feel.

Shopping piling up as they scan it through as you ask for a bag, and get ignored.

Eventually with a tut you get three bags handed to you for £100 worth of shopping....I should have walked off and left it there really.

I asked for bags at a checkout once and the girl said "so you don't recycle them then?"

To which I replied "yes, I do recycle them actually. I have a dog and I use them to bag up his poop. Is that ok with you?"

I suspect that the carrier bags in question are NOT made of plastic, but from corn starch .

They disintegrate in landfills and do not kill Ickle animals.

Which is nice.

Oh is that right ?

I think someone needs to do a tad more research.....according to the stuff I've seen.

why? The current ones rip when you put more than a bag of crisps in them. The paper ones seem to be great.

This is from personal experience, I'm not planning on doing a research project on the pro's vs con's of micron thick plastic bags vs paper bags.
