Friends and I are going to La Tania for a week in January. However, one of our party has to leave early to get back to the UK for a wedding. We've got a transfer booked for the rest of us, but for him to pay for a transfer on his own will cost a fortune. Therefore I was wondering if he could jump on a train to get himself back to the airport. This raises the following questions:

1) What is the nearest train station to La Tania.

2) Is there a service from said station to Chambery.

If the train is not an option, does anyone know about busses or coaches?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Bourg St. Maurice station, 20 minutes down the mountain. Trains to anywhere in the known world. (eventually).

That's odd. Nothing on Google

Maybe I'm spelling it wrong or missing an accent.

It's a drink that is kind of the alpine equivalent of sloe Gin. Made with the genope plant and an eau du vie spirit.

Essential apre ski. biggrin

Sounds ideal. Is this something you created as part of your job?

Here's another question for you in case you're having a dull day. Why can you decrease the freezing point of water with additives (alcohol, salt etc) but not add anything to increase it?

Unfortunately my job is not that exciting.

Easy. It's exothermic so increase the pressure on it.

I can't change the pressure or volume, so need to do it chemically.

apart from its Moutiers at the bottom of the mountain Bourg is an hour in the wrong direction on a good day wink Best bet is getting a coach from Mouters bus station or the resort itself as the airport is no where near Chambery train station. You can do that on the Chambery airport website http://www.chambery-airport.com/rubrique.php3?id_r... , as long as he is travelling on the right day. If not there are busses every so often going down from La Tania to Moutiers but none of these services are that regular so you will need to plan in advance. You sometimes have to reserve your place in advance as soon as you get to resort as well. Another option if he is travelling on a ski companies transfer is bunging them a few quid and getting on their coach. Done this on a few occasions and it definately can work (The reps usually pocket the cash though!)

Forgot to say - a lot of seasonaires with cars will do a transfer for a much better fee however I would personally not recommend it as they are generally uninsured and thats if they bother to turn up at all!!!

Then as far as I know you are buggered. Best you can do is remove any impurities.

Google thinks Deuterium might works.

Another way to increase the freezing point of ice is to use the
isotopic deuterium form of water (D2O). The freezing point of (D2O) is about
+ 3 C.

Where are you staying there? I did my season out there about 5 years ago, great place. There's a number of people who might be able to help out with a lift down the mountain etc. Check out www.latania.co.uk it's the local's english website, post a question on there and someone will help!

No problems - just make sure you print out a copy of the confirmation page not just write down the reference number - I had a massive arguement with one of the drivers as he almost refused to take me because I didn't hand him a bit of paper with the reference number on it (which you could have just knocked up in word anyway)! Its not the most user friendly service but its cheap and the coaches can get through a lot of snow before they have to even put their chains on so its pretty reliable. Just check if you have to confirm and book a seat when you get to resort and also where it leaves from well in advance. Probably first couple of days in resort.

Have you been to La Tania before? La Taiga restaurant is supposed to be worth a visit and the ski lodge does good toffee vodka!

Let me know if you want any more info about the area as its my fave subject - have lived and worked out there on and off for 4 years!

We've been to La Tania a few times. We love it there. Many adventurres in the Pub Le Ski Lodge, usually fueled by the famed toffee vodka shots.

Not sure which restaurant is La Taiga, so can't tell you about that one.

I have some questions on another subject, so I'll PM you.
