Probably too far but as you've given no clues about location, budget or the type of place you're looking for I'm not very surprised you're not getting much response!

http://www.calcotmanor.co.uk/ supposedly very family friendly

Where in the country?

How about...

Devon - http://www.thishotel.com
Londonish - http://www.cowleymanor.com

Both are utterly gorgeous.

Or a bit further away... Brugge, about 90 mins from Calais http://www.dieswaene.com/

Try this place. Ideal for car lovers, women (as there is a spa with all the treatments she could want or imagine) an serves fabulous food in a very relaxed country manner. The matre de (sp?) is fabulous.
The hotel is just above the Brecon Beacons and there are a couple of driving routes they recommend. One goes by the resevoir that was pictured in the evo car of the year. They had a photo of one of their cars where I parked up in an NSX.

France has always been my favorite weekend break. It's close and has various methods of getting there.
Try Le Mans in the NW region of France. Very pretty place and good for someone who likes cars... Lots of history and old towns etc..
Lovely French people too.

Best Western Country Club in Le Mans is a stunning old French Chateau with beautiful grounds. Great food and drink as well.

Failing that Scotland esp. the East Coast is amazing. Try Mallaig or somewhere on the Isle of Mull or Skye.
