Old films now on Blu Ray

The process is:
- Check to see whether there are gullible people who will pay £20 for old films
- Check to see whether they can make it look slightly better
- Sell Sell Sell
Handy for me in the store though, as we play standard DVDs next to Blu Ray to show difference. Also tough trying to find films we can show that are 12 certificate and less.- Check to see whether there are gullible people who will pay £20 for old films

1080p is 1920x1080 pixels.
I think 35mm film is generally considered the equivalent of at least 3840x2160 pixels.
Essentially a current full-HD set is only showing 25% of the detail that film shows. I'm sure we'll all be conned by next gen HD in a few years time.
Thanks for that..I think 35mm film is generally considered the equivalent of at least 3840x2160 pixels.

is it just the trend to be cynical about everything these days?I think 35mm film is generally considered the equivalent of at least 3840x2160 pixels.

the improvement in picture and sound quality avalaiable in the home is phenominal compared to 5 years ago. so i'm glad i've been 'conned'.
the fact is, to encode all the information from a reel of film onto a dvd type format isn't technically possible yet, but it will come.
As The Hawk indicates, 35mm is far beyond the 1080P resolution and that's before you get to 70mm.
This was explained to me by Brother Gandalf recently as I restored an old, oak table. He rang me to extoll the simple benefits of a Sky HD transmission of 'Predator.'
Not exactly The Bard but it'll do in an emergency.

I doubt Sky had to hand the original film version of predator or even a HD version of it. I bet all they did was run it through some upscaling program and said there you go, HD. Which is of course coblers as your HD tv will do that for you anyway. This was explained to me by Brother Gandalf recently as I restored an old, oak table. Awesome, and y' know what, in spite of your deep seated Murdoch-mistrust, I simply cannot fathom why you don't pay your dough and get this install post-haste, dear boy. This was explained to me by Brother Gandalf recently as I restored an old, oak table. The very *notion* of seeing a high-def Mr Ventura turn round to the massed ranks of Predator-fodder, mouth full of 'baccy and sneering that line would be more than enough to get me on the blower....

Along similar lines, one thing I can't for the life of me understand is how Ipods can carry hundreds of hours of music when a CD is is much wider and has less music. It seems to defy the laws of physics?
Its the fairies it has in it

I am another who has replaced their videos with dvd's and am now going through the expensive process of buying my favorites on Blu ray as they come out
This time round I am going to do it very slowly as it annoys me how a film can be £3 in the bargain Dvd bucket and £20-£25 on Blu ray
