Krakow - Things to do
Discussion
Was there a couple of years ago, was really good.
Hawelka is a fine restaurant on the main square, a bit formal and old world style, but food was good.
Lots of good bars, you should try Propaganda for a couple.
If you will be able to cope with it, I would say go to Auschwitz. Is a lot to take, but I found it extremely worthwhile, although harrowing experience.

be very careful - i went with my best friend last new years eve and only because he can speak polish did we get away without a good kicking!
We came across absolutely no aggro what so ever. Then again we didn't come across as stereotypically lagered up brits. On the whole the polish seemed very friendly indeed. Personaly I think if your going all the way to kracow then Auschwitz should be at the top of the list.
It's an amazing place that I think everyone should visit at least once in their life.
If you fancy something a little more romatic It's well worth trying one of the many horse and carriage tours around the city. You'll find plenty to choose from in the main square.
A great destination steeped with history. Plenty of nice places to eat and very friendly.Don't forget to haggle and keep an eye on the gypsies!

i do admit we did go into a rough looking bar not in the centre and we didn't get a kicking but what the people were saying (my friend interpreted) they really didn't like us being in there and were going to give us a kicking!
we aren't typical lagered up brits either I was with a financial consultant, solicitor and pilot and we weren't terribly drunk.
probably best sticking to the tourist spots!
After seeing a TV programme about racist gangs in Krakow (part of the football club hooligan thing i think) i'm guessing you walked into one of their bars. Showed a couple going in and because the girl with him was black they dragged him out the back, assumedly for a good kicking!we aren't typical lagered up brits either I was with a financial consultant, solicitor and pilot and we weren't terribly drunk.

We're definately planning on going to Auschwitchz. My wife went there with school about 15 years ago and said that its somewhere that everyone should see (and not be forgotten) so wanted to take me there.
ah sorry its not that kind trip, as as said probably Auschwitchz and the salt mines the indoor market in the centre is mostly full of tourist tat, but there was a good antiques fair in the square can't remember what day it was.
