Going around the world - 'World Discovery Fare'
Discussion
I'm looking at this too
There are other, similar deals available: Great Escapade Fare is unlimited stopovers worldwide using Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines and Virgin Atlantic; Globehopper Fare, which is Virgin and New Zealand, and is one of the cheapest fares but is 2 stopovers only. You've got the Star Alliance (16 airlines and upto 15 stopovers) and the cheaper Star Alliance Special (same but between 3 and 5 stopovers) fares. And World Discovery Plus has an extra stop and more destination choices (I *think* the regular fare is 25 destinations and the Plus has about twice as many).
The biggy is the OneWorld Explorer fare which is 8 airlines, 600 destinations, and is priced on how many continents you go through with up to 20 stopovers. This (seems to) make it easier because you don't need to worry about the mileage allowances all other fares have, and just add up your number of continents you'll be stopping in and apply a base price. I have been given these base prices (which don't include taxes and whatnot, and I don't know if they are 'standard' prices or 'agent markup' prices; valid till december next year)
3 Continents £1424
4 Continents £1624
5 Continents £1984
6 Continents £2249
An example 5 continent ticket is UK-Rio de Janeiro-Lima-Santiago-Easter Island-Tahiti-Auckland-Sydney-Bali-Singapore-Bangkok-Hong Kong-Johannesburg-Cape Town-UK
