Quick question guys, I know that the US gallon isn't the same as the UK gallon, but is there any difference in lbs between US and UK?

[unhelpful git] They're both wrong ('lbs' is not a correct abbreviation; the plural of 'lb' is 'lb')'[/unhelpful git]

Actually, the US pound differs from the UK pound.
IIRC, by about 3 millionths of a per cent. So nothing to really worry about.

Well, I think the British Pound is worth about 1.48 American pounds... it varies tho.

Thank you all o wise ones. Other half was convinced she had lost weight during a visit to our daughter in Seattle, and when she weightd herself over here, said "Theese scales can't be right, I was less over there"

So me thinks either daughter has jobbed scales over there so they both seem less then they are, (strong possibily me thinks), or there may have been a difference in actual lbs either side of the pond. Tks guys.

If you go to Wendy's in the US their burgers are square. -They might be quarter pounders. Does this help?

When I lived in the US I found that their waist sizes (I mean the label on trousers) was always on the 'optimistic' side; something that would be a 34" in the USA was about the same 'fit' on me as a 36" trouser purchased in the UK.

[geek mode] Of course, we have two different lb here - Troy and Avoirdupois. 12 Troy oz in 1 lb Troy, 16 Avoirdupois oz in 1 lb Avoirdupois.[/geek mode]
