Let's say you inherit or acquire some money, a large amount but not enough to propel you into the big leagues of multi-multi millionaires.

For the sake of our discussion, we'll call it £6 million.

However, the Brewster's Millions-type condition of you receiving this money is that you are not allowed to drive any vehicle again, ever.

You can do anything else with the money you like - houses, women, holidays, the lot but you cannot drive anything. This obviously means no road driving but also no track days, no private circuit contructed in your back garden, no going abroad to sneak a hoon, nothing.

You will be a passenger for the rest of your days. That McLaren/Veyron/Pagani you always promised yourself when your numbers come up will be, as a driver, useless.

Assuming in ourn hypothetical world that it could be monitored, as a petrolhead, would you take the cash?

only if you were allowed to fly / navigate - red bull air race thing for the weekends, and a hovercraft for the commute.

Yes, then i'd buy a red bull air race plane and hoon about in the sky.

edit: i'd also fly low past speed cameras, just for fun!

Really wouldn't bother me.

Anyway, after I'd donated about, well, £6million to my other half, I get her to buy me an R500.

I'd take it. The chances of me ever afforidng a McLaren/Veyron/Pagani are not too good anyway. Think of all the other things you could do.

Sorry chap - hovercraft counts as a vehicle in hypothetical-world as it's land based.

Good call on the flying, but could you really give up the car/bike.....forever?

Immediately. I'd give up for a 10th that amount. In fact, even 1/20th. Driving today is nothing like it was in the 90s - roads packed with moron drivers and cameras and driving is rarely a pleasure any more.

It's a vehicle, but you don't drive it, you ride it biggrin

Always check the small print before you enter into a contract...

I wouldn't drive anyway. They'd be no roads on my island, and I'd be too busy hooning around in my bloody great big speed boat.

EDA just re-read it and I wouldn't be allowed a boat either. scratchchin

I would have to console myself with hourly back rubs from bronzed beach babes, but it would be tough.

Hmmm, take money, shoot the person whom the contract was made with, burn the contract and then burger off to a country with no extradition treaties and do as I please biggrin

Or I’d just hoon around in speed boats and aircraft (A nice WW2 fighter, and a helicopter of some description) and partake in mentalist extreme sports.

It's not that tough; I'd take it in an instant. I'm sure I'd miss driving occasionally as I lounged around in the south of France, snorting coke off the bodies of naked Brazilian supermodels. I'd cope though I think.

Easy. Would do that without thinking.

It wouldn't affect me that much and to be honest, I could ensure a constant state of drunkeness, so it can't be all that bad. Nope, that would be easy....

I don't have my own car at the moment and it's driving me crackers!
I suppose £6m would make it better but I'd also lose Mrs.Targa if I didn't take the cash

Most people with that dosh get chaffeured places anyway.

So couldn't really give a carp.

Would have to make up for it flying aerobatics.

Its like having sex with (insert famous person) and not being able to tell anyone, i.e. Pointless!
