My mate went to stay with his brother in Colorado a few years ago.

They were in the pub and my mate loudly said "I could kill for a fag right now!".

Which in America has a slightly different meaning from here...

Been in my common usage for close to a decade now...

Bit of a crap story for not mentioning some of the words beaten by meh though

Some Blokey @ The Telegraph said:
"Jargonaut", "frenemy" and "huggles" were also in contention, apparently.
