I know the whole flat screen TV thing has been done to death on here, but my question is slightly different. I am after a new flat screen TV and there seem to be some good deals leading up to Christmas. However, I am moving to Canada within 18 months and I was hoping to take it with me. Can anyone tell me if a TV from the UK will work in Canada? This determines whether I buy something cheap to tide me over or splash out for one that will last me a couple of years. Along the same theme is there any region coding on the PS3 and its games (I am just being lazy now as that should be easy enough to find out from google) I know about the PAL/NTSC thing with old CRT TVs but is this still a problem?

Thanks

James

I don't think the PAL / NTSC thing will make any odds, panels should support pretty much any signal you can throw at them I think. The bigger question will be whether they accept 110v instead of 240v. My Toshiba panel doesn't.

I hadn't even thought about the voltage. Having blown up a 110v camera charger you would have thought I would have learnt.

PS3 games are region free the blu ray films are not though

Edited to add I would just buy a cheapish tv for now rather than go to hassle of shipping it in 18 months (have you thought about buying a second hand one ?)

Most European TV's will accept both PAL & NTSC formats however the built in Tuners, both Analogue and Digital (Freeview), may well struggle with US/Can frequencies so you wont be able to tune TV channels. If your going to us external Sat or cable box you're okay.
