Does anyone have a picture of a 50s or 60s police beacon? I am doing a video for Stevenage Museum about working in the town at its start, some of the interviews are with ex plod and one describes the blue beacons that used to flash outside places like the Post Office to tell them they had a message. Can I find a picture of them? Can I hell! Any images gratefully received!!

(This will be on public display so you need to be happy with that)

Have you tried "Police Lamp" rather than beacon?

Doh, I have now. He did call it a beacon wink

Can anyone confirm that this is the right sort of thing and not just appearing outside the plod station? It seems they had various points where messages could be left, a beacon would be flashing for them.

The only place I've seen one of those has been outside a police station.

The lamp looks like one outside a police station. There were others around that look like an orange belisha beacon on a zebra corssing but were blue with "Police" written in white on them, might be that design?
