I am actually suprised in this day and age that this has not been taken a step too far by some people to cheat in exams.

I didn't think it was needed these days

I like the picture of it inserted in the ear... So far in that you can't see it... You can't get it out either...

Maybe foiled somewhat by the removal of phones before exams....???

But then again, as said before, you get an A* for turning up...

Option is given to either turn your phone off or hand it in.

Call me old (I'm 28) but I think mobiles should be banned from schools at all times - not just for exams.

That doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Why not ban them from work aswell confused

You do realize alot of kids take buses and trains to school smile

So what do you do when you want to let your son/daughter know they need to come home by train as you can't pick them up that day?

Honestly, some people.

In the not to dim and distant past (15 years ago) I and everyone I went to school with managed just fine without mobile phones. If parents needed to contact their children, they phoned the school and a message was passed to the relevant person. I once forgot my trunks when I was about 7 so I asked my teacher to phone my Mum who bought them to school for me. Its really not that difficult.

So what do you do when your kids start using text messaging to bully someone else, what about the pornographic video messages they'll share via bluetooth? (a colleague's daughter has experienced both of these recently)

Schools nowadays don't work like they used to. Take Rugby School for example, students are allowed to go into town or be anywhere in free time. Therefore how a housemaster plans on tracking down where this student could be to give him a message from his mother beyond me.

Regarding the last paragraph, that works both ways, I know plenty of kids who havn't received that sort of rubbish.
Thats just down to parenting.....

I can see banning phones from kids below 14 but once 14+ school lifestyle changes quite a bit.

Some companies have lockers that phones must be put in when they get to work. It's not a bad idea.

Shirley whispering loud enough to be heard over a phone is likely to get you kicked out of the exam?!

So were we and that was way before mobile phones. Schoolkids do not need a bloody phone. Come to that nor do the vast majority of adults. They may be the modern obsession but it's ridiculous that the obsession is so strong that people have forgotten that only ten years ago we managed perfectly well without them.

Yes most adults managed fine without them.

Now they manage better with them confused

It's not about managing fine without something, its about moving foward.

I am sure we managed fine without cars 1000 years ago, but we manage better with them now.

I am sure we managed fine without the internet 1000 years ago. But we manage better with it now.

I am sure we managed fine without DVDs 25 years ago, but we manage better with them now.

I hate this ridiculous statement that if we managed fine back then that doesn't mean we need them now, what utter tosh that really is.

How do you honestly expect to move anywhere with that sort of logic in your head.
