Afternoon folks.

At present have sky, with a sky+ box, thats mine, brought from ebay.

Had enough of sky and want to cancel, but love the features of sky +.

So, if i cancel and convert via sky to Freesat then will my sky+ box still work, as in record and pause.

Also will i still be able to watch the hrs of c*** i have saved on sky+ at present, have a GTR on order and have hrs of footage to keep me going until next july.

Thought id call sky and ask these questions, after 27 mins of waiting to be put through i gave up, bless them, ive looked on lots of sites to see if freesat do a recorder but can find nothing as yet.

Thanks in advance.

From memory you can use freesat with sky plus, but you then pay the £10/month. So its not really free!

You are better off selling the sky box, buying a Humax and watching freeview through that.

Correct.

In order to keep the "+" functionality of the box, you need to pay £10 per month.

As suggested, you need one of these: http://www.johnlewis.com/230519340/Product.aspx

Go back to about Wednesday's thread on Humax for freesat. It may give you what you want. I have to say, as we dont have Sky I'm not sure, but am sufficiently interested to find out more, as I am well interested in freesat. The thread is on P & P.

Good luck

I'm in the same position as the OP and I'm going to get the Humax PVR linked to above. It's £300 but I really don't want to be tied in to Sky HD at £10 a month (of just free channels).

You only need to take the cable out the back of your Sky+ box and plug it into the back of the Humax one.

Edited to add more info on Freesat here http://www.joinfreesat.co.uk/

The first Freesat+ Digital Box will be launched by Humax (FOXSAT-HDR) and will initially be available across selected John Lewis, Comet, Argos and Dixons stores plus some selected independent retailers, priced at around £299.
