Yes, I've done a search but things change every week. I have a £700(ish) budget and hope to be able to get a flat telly about 40" and a AV amp.

I know sod all about it. So Hoping for a little advice or at least an explaination of some of the jargon.

Any recommendations?

How ish is ish?

As you'll struggle to get a quality panel and an amp for that sort of money.

Sorry for the hijack,

Plotty,

I am looking for a 37 inch LCD at the mo. My missus has her eye on the new Samsung range that have the red tint to the case, her favourite colour is burgundy and that clearly is the most important thing when looking for a tv! What your general opinion of them?

I've had a Samsung 26 inch for 2 years now and have been very happy with it.

Help much appreciated.

ETA: Not to worried about full HD as have just sold my Xbox360 and we are not interested in Bluray as I have heard rumours about greenray???

Honestly, even though they've upped the game substantially they still look better off than on.

Panasonic TH-37PX80B, 37" Plasma is still the most solid 37" bet.

Is there much difference between the 42px80 and the 42px81 other than freesat? Just the difference in price is quite large.

Dont forget the 6 and 8 series are both Full HD. We flog loads and havent had any more issues than any other manufacturer we represent. The new 8 series is only 44mm deep and has wireless internet connection options that let you download pics and music wirelessly.
Both have the Red Crystal case.

PZ81 has:
Freesat tuner
IFC (intelligent frame creation)
Deep colour (which no sources support yet)
Digital audio out
AVCHD playback from SD card (PZ80 will show jpegs)
Picture in picture.

IMO, if you don't need the Freesat tuner (and if you do a Humax Freesat PVR would be a better idea) then the PX80 or PZ80 will do you nicely. I got my PZ82 (which is the same as the PZ80 with a few cosmetic changes) for £690. Bargain.
