Is it just me, or is it bordering too much on a purely entertainment show lately? I mean the first episode in the new series was good, but the power test was frankly pathetic, and it seemed to me that it was rushed through to get to them messing about with the lorries or to the utterly ste star in a reasonably priced car. What happened to the good old episodes where there were proper car reviews? I think top gear might just have downshifted... what do you think?

How many new posts do we need about Top Gear.

If you don't like it, don't watch it.

Watching it and complaining on here won't change anything.

I think there's room for a kind of 'top gear 2' where it's the same presenters but they actually review cars in a useful way.

Hopefully someone at the beeb will see sense because sadly, major portions of the show really aren't worth watching.

Top Gear is great. It's the one car show that all my old girl housemates would want to watch just as much as the guys - which is the main point really. It's a car show that can appeal to 100% of the population rather than just 50%.

Aw come on lighten up

It's harmless fun and it doesn't pretend to be anything else. I'm only jealous (like most people probably are) I'm not one of the 3 guys being paid a fortune to tit around with their mates!

If you want to watch a car review show try fifth gear ZZZzzzzzzzz......... after all most run of the mill cars (and reviews of them) are pretty boring....and I like cars!

Top Gear is great. Mrs. Tunku and Miss Tunku watch it, as does Master Tunku. They do not have the same committment I do have for cars, but they all love it. It has helped me enormously in the past. My driveway and garage are my own.

I thought last weeks was excellent, if you want detailed reviews, buy one of the millions of mgazines or read about it on the internet. It's just too boring going into detail on TV, as Fifth Gear prove regularly.

If you don't like his opinion and others alike, don't click on the top gear threads!

How is he supposed to know if an episode is good or crap if he doesn't watch it?

So everyone who keeps saying, 'if you don't like it don't watch it', kindly STFU!

Thanks, thumbup

Top Gear is great entertainment, and quite frankly the more I see of Hammond on TV, the happier I am!

Who wants to watch lots of reviews about more ordinary cars?

I never really got this idea, how often do most people change their car? Even a petrolhead will probably do it less than once a year on average? How many buy new as opposed to used cars? How long will you have to wait until a review of the car you are considering comes round? There may be more of a reason now that youtube exists so you can readily go and watch old reviews, but it's a long lead-in time for the progs and not really much reason to watch the reviews when they are aired.

Anyway TG - arseing around in cars and associated stuff with mates, what's not to like?! being a TG presenter has to be the grown up version of wanting to be a Blue Peter presenter. I think it's great.

It's getting a tad boring.

Surely, by now, people know what to expect from TG? - I mean, it's not suddenly going to become the yawn fest it was in the 80s is it?

Watching something you know you won't like, then starting the 50th thread complaining about it on here is rather pointless.

I disagree. The 'new style' TG didn't always used to be about pure frolics, as i'm sure anyone who watches Dave can tell. I'm not saying I dislike the current show because I really enjoy it, but talented presenters and writers can make a program that includes some real reviews without non-car people turning off. Think series 3 and 4 sort of era.

Still, so long as it's on the schedule, i'll be watching it.

Discussed ad infinitum on Sunday/Monday after the show and there's even one on the repeat in GG.
