As i write this, i sit with my face stinging like hell with it cut to bits. The razor im currently using is bloody crap and doesnt even get close, never mind near. It leaves a lot of visible stubble no matter how hard i press but yet it cuts me really badly. I also have a braun electric razor but for some reason after using that within a day or two i will have a load of little yellow spots around my mouth and chin. So i either cut myself to shreads and look an idiot that way or have loads of spots rolleyes The one i use is the vibrating gilette fusion one.

So, can anyone recommend a razor that gets quite close without ripping half your face off please?!?

The Gillette one with 6 blades (whose name I always forget) is the best I've used.

Its good but because the head does not swivel I find it a pain in the are in some areas and binned it.

To the op I don't think your problem is the razor. More likey the shave foam etc you are using

I cant help but wonder if im doing something wrong. Whilst never being shown how to shave i dont think i do anything fundementally wrong. After all its not exactly much of a skill.

If i even attempt to shave against the way the hair grows, my skin just cuts open so doing that is a no no. And just shaving with the way the hair grows without any pressure also results in cuts. Perhaps its just the way my skin is.

Agreed 100%. Always used Gillette but no longer. KoS is the way ahead, a superbly designed yet simple piece of kit. The blades last much longer too.

Good heads up - not heard of this. Their "software" (as they call them) products are great so I'll be looking into their razors now too.

Yep, their new razor coupled with one of their clear gels = best shave ever.

No cuts, or irritation, which is a great escape from the Mach 3 which never cut me, but drove my skin insane with stubble rash, regardless of what product I used with it.

yep, I use the KoS Azor too

it doesn't cut the hair so close to the skin as a Mach 3 so it lifts less layers of skin off your face, therefore no rash or ingrowing hair

only downside is it doesn't stay anywhere near as sharp as a mach 3

I use a Merkur with a soap dish and brush. Very good, clean, even shave and the blades cost about £3 for 10.

I believe in taking care of myself and a balanced diet and rigorous exercise routine. In the morning if my face is a little puffy I'll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches. I can do 1000 now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. smile

Don't press. I have to concentrate on not trying to shave too fast. Just let the razor glide over your skin with almost no pressure; if it takes several passes to clear a given area, then so be it.

Oh, and make sure you change blades often; I find the Fusion (best razor I've found) blades go 'off' annoyingly quickly.

FFS! poofs! Shaving is only for when someone else says you look a bit scruffy, and you happen to agree with them. Does not happen often, in a decent heterosexual lifestyle. About as rare as a black President. biggrin

Shave following a hot bath or shower , and never against the growth of the hair.

Gel works best for me, but I can't say I've ever had many issues with shaving.

Tell a lie, Bic disposables and KOS poxy oil were nothing short of pathetic.

Are you mental? have you actualy read his first post? The guy would look like John Meric if he ever went near a merkur.

I never ever suffered from razor burn for 15 odd years until I bought one of those. Jesus crist it took me months to recover.

I agree with the brush and soap dish well I actual prefer this now.
. the men-u shave is the best Ive tried.

nono

Shaving is for when a beautiful woman won't let you near her until you do, as the things she wants you to do to her would be uncomfortable with stubble (not hers!) thumbup
