I've only just bought a new TT ONE V4 and have just done the software update. Now when I turn it on all I get is a flashing error cross. I've tried re-starting but it's just the same. TT website is rubbish and can't find any help online and needed it for tomorrow! HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLPPPPPP!!!

I've re-booted it. It will connect to the software but there's no factory re-set option from there and I can't get into any menus to do it on the device.

Can't help with the TomTom but it sounds like you need a backup of some maps and directions written down/printed out. Just in case it dies again tomorrow too.

Hit the reset , if that doesnt work connect it to the pc , then go to my computer and copy and paste all the files off it onto your pc , format the tomt tom and then copy and paste the files back onto the tom tom , this worked on my 720 after i did an update and it went pete tong , in future though always back up a tom tom with explorer and NOT tom tom home .

there should be a reset on the unit - possibly underneath

I can't find a reset button anywhere. The only button on the unit is the on/off at the top.

I don't think it'll even start to work as I can't access anything in it. All I get on start up is the error. cry

On my tom tom one where the card plugs in underneath there is a tiny hole marked 'reset'. Find a paperclip and insert carefully (as they say).

It's not a button.

The 720 has a small hole, into which you prod something like an open paper clip. It's on the underside of that unit, near the power socket. Should have the word RESET moulded near it. Don't you have the instruction book?

Definitely get on google maps for directions then.

On the reset button thing - is there a tiny hole in it somewhere? Some devices have a hidden reset button you need to hit using a straightened paperclip. beware though - it might lose data if you do.

Ding ding. It's a tiny hole that only a paperclip (or needle) will fit into

I've searched the whole unit and cannot find any holes other than the speakers
