I'm struggling under a lot of work pressures at the moment (insolvency is very very busy understandably) and I know that the OH is a little stressed too.

I think its about time for us to have a night away from the mundane life and chill out a little.

Has anyone come across any good deals for hotels or spa stays etc recently or got any good ideas as to what we can do.

I haven't got a lot of spare cash at the moment (with the run up to Xmas and saving for my 30th in the US next year) so it cannot be extravagant. We're in Northants so something not too far away would be great, so need to stick within the Midlands and its immediate borders.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Barnsdale hall/hotel/lodge depending on your budget? Also Hambleton Hall, but that's very pricey! Plenty of spa type places round Rutland Water.

Whittlebury Hall - There's a deal on lastminute.com offering dinner bed and breakfast for two for £138 - it's around your neck of the woods too.

not sure how good it is, but seems good value.

Yeah its just down the road near Silverstone, might be worth a look on their website later on.

Also just to add - we went away to Cornwall & Devon a couple of months back as thats where the OH is from so we're not too interested in cheap trips down to that neck of the woods.

Went there last year for a Christmas do, was good. Can't remember too much though, sorry!

LOL I think the OH would die of shock. I quite like having him around so probably not a good idea.

A nice hotel in London?

I've had some stonking deals with lastminute.com , choose one of their top secret hotels and get it for a much discounted rate, had a night in the Millennium Mayfair for £100, even discounted rates at the time were around £175, rack rate over £200.

You get a description of the area, and of the hotel and its facilities but not its name or photos, commit yourself and you get the hotel name.

A night in London, a show deal and pre-show dinner with londontown.com and bob's your not very expensive uncle.

went to the crown hotel & spa in scarborough last month with the OH.

google it, their website is cack but its really nice 4* hotel on the esplanade. was £67 for a standard double room or £87 for one with a sea view/balcony.

will wait for the people to knock scarborough but me and the OH like our british seaside now and then. had a silly day playing bingo and on the arcade machines, she had a donkey ride and we flew a kite on the beach that we won on the bingo. spent the afternoon relaxing in the spa [free for hotel guests] then the rest of the night testing out the mattress wink

would imagine you could do something similar in brighton for not many £££.

Nice hotel that, I live about 100 yards away hehe

I looked at their gym membership, it's a nice gym they've got.

I've heard varying reports of the secret hotels on lastminute, think there was a thread on here recently??
