Where can you get the doors that all of these house builders put in their show homes?

Usally smooth light wood doors (probably hollow), with silver trim.

B&Q, any merchant, just be sure to measure up and lay each door on the floor to check its flat.

For my sins, in 2000 my wife and I bought a 5 bed house from one of the large UK builders*.

We had quite an extensive snagging list, which included some carpentry work. The lad who the builders sent to do the re-work was a 'proper' chippy and happened to be someone I vaguely knew from my school days. He told me that teh wood butcher's employed by the builder to fit all the internal doors were paid £50 per house...

They work on a nubmers game; mostly it's near enough right that nobody notices anything amis, the rest can't all be bothered to complain, some of them you can fob off, so you're left with a small percentage of hardcore awkward nasty bds (like myself) for whom you incur a little cost.

  • The big plc's who buy up most fo the land an heap-up piles of rubbish that they try to sell as houses and now, finally, have been rumbled hence their sales tanking.

Magic, and if you could answer the question? Where do I get them from? Are you suggesting I approach a local chippy?

Yes, if you want decent doors well fitted.

The pukka chippies will also be used on the show homes you see.
