For £500-700 notes. LCD or plasma? Any recommendations from the av experts?

To be used mostly for Xbox 360 and occasionally dvd/blu-ray/sky hd.

I've been looking at 32" LCD TV's, and the best picture I've seen are on LG and Samsung models which to my eye consistently beat the stuff from Sony et al.

"i" stands for "interlaced".

No. A 1080i TV only actually as a vertical resolution of 540 (I think), it displays alternate lines of a 1080p image.

ETA: Sorry, I should explain that better: it alternates between showing even numbers lines and odd numbered lines.

Again I say "I think". I'm no expert on this stuff. smile

I have several LCD TVs - a cheap 26" Dell and an expensive 40" Sony Bravia. I don't like either of them, but at least the Dell was cheap.

For my living room, 32" is a perfect size, so I'd like a 32" plasma for that room, and a 40"/50" plasma for the other.

Obviously the new Kuro is the default choice at the higher end, but that LG looks interesting.

Yeah we've got a pretty nasty 20" sony bravia lcd in the kitchen and when i've finished the spiral staircase to my den, i'm going to go for a 50-60" plasma up there. But until then, i need a small-ish tv for the living room and i reckon 32" is as big as i want to go...
