These be very good. Not experienced the S5700 as such but its predicessor, the S5600. very good for the money and also comes with manual modes (much like an SLR) if you want to learn a bit about photography. Obviously it has the usual auto everything modes too :-)

I recently bought the S5800 mainly for completed work pictures but have used it for a few track shots at Knockhill too, A load of good features.

The 5800 is only £99 (or even less) at many places now. I had the next model up, the S8000, until recently and found it to be a great starter camera. Cost £200 back then but I've seen it for about £125 online.

Oh yes. The G10 has just come out, so there may be some deals on the G9.

I may have got those numbers wrong, with the G9 just being released, and the deals being on the G8.

I just bought the Fujifilm J50.

Is small so easily fits in pocket. I will be trying it out next week when skiing. So will let you know once back on results.

The only way to discover the merits of cameras is to read reviews...
