What do you think my chances are of a refund? Only issue is, it seems they "never got" my change of address, so since April 2007 I've been paying and registered at my old address, whilst the girlfriend has been paying for the one at the address we've lived at since April 2007. I pay by direct debit.

Anyone been in a similar position? TV Licensing don't seem to be interested.

Sums it up really. Though even if they had received your change of address they will happily take two lots of cash for the same address. Just cancel the licence at the old address, dont tell them your new address or you`ll have the schutzstaffen knocking at your door (prolly.. lol)

I did the same, but didn't notice.

After a few months the TV Licensing people gave me a call, and within a couple of days I had a full refund for the overpaid amount.

Yes the lady on the phone sounded like the concentrated pulpy remains of a thousand lawyers put through an evil-filtration machine. You could feel the pure evil and anger radiating off her voice. But she got the job done.

I told them about the problem detailing both past and present addresses and both licence numbers plus holders names. All I got in return was a letter thanking me for changing my address. Their "advanced system" didn't even flag up the dual licence at the same address. Not that I'm surprised.

As an update, they eventually read my mails properly and decided I did in fact have two licences and cancelled the direct debit from my account.

This morning I have a letter from them saying my latest DD has been declined and I should call them to make payment rolleyes

Their level of incompetence knows no bounds. I'm about to send off proof of my dual licence, I wonder what joy this will bring.
