I'm not a labour supporter, and today I finally decided to dislike Geoff Hoon, where previously I would support him to the end. He's sold out IMO. He's put his party before his own beliefs from what I can tell, and from that point forward he becomes somewhat less than the "Good Man" I thought him to be.

He's just said on the radio that Osbourne, shows serial incompetence, and inexperience in respect of Oleg the Oligarch.

I want to know how it is that Mandy can collude with a dodgy Russian and a load of people who don't even appear to be British, to smear British politics from the outside further than they already have, and then accuse the victim of "inexperience". If nothing else this must be considered "Entrapment".

I'd remind Geoff Hoon that he was inexperienced once, and that frankly, he's showing his reversion to that state just now. If you want to hit at our country Geoff, and get help from your Russian mates, why don't you just go there to live. At least then we all know where we stand.

Christ knows, Mandy is dodgy, what sort of inexperience requires that you hire and fire the same person three times?

Turncoat. (And TBH what the hell has this got to do with transport anyway Geoff? - I mean with the taxation your party is committing us all to, I suppose the road and rail networks are going to rats anyhow!)

Actually he's resigned just twice (not fired, but would have been I guess), so far. The second time for which he was cleared of any wrong doing by an independnt commsion (a fact often overlooked).

He's clearly been stitched up on several occasions, and the utter dislike for him by the media and so many others seems to have rubbed off on you. Dont like him myself either, but really, is it necessary to jump on the band wagon?

I await the third time with interest though. Surely sooner rather than later, Too many people dislike him intently.

I am on record on these forums some years ago describing Geoff Hoon as a "snivelling backstabbing coward" I think it was.

However, rising head and shoulders above even him, is the doyen of class and integrity, Lord Peter Mandleson. He is the froth that will always float to the top of a barrel of fermenting ste.

Just found this. When Buff Hoon was SofS for Defence, he was known throughout the armed forces, from Generals to Privates, as TCH: That Hoon.

This was the man who told a family grieving for their son lost in Iraq that they were annoying him. TCH. Always was. And in my mind always will be.

It's not just him; there's TCB, TCD, TCM, TCM & TOCM and a whole host of others.

What about Mike Jackson? FWIW, I had a higher opinion of him, and that's only gone up since!

He was CGS at the time of the Buffhoonery and I have heard rumour that it was old Sir monkey-scrotum facelift himself who coined the term TCH. May be true. May not. Don't care, I like it anyway!

The act which endeared me to Hoon (for a while) was that he at least attempted to protect David Kelly, at a time hwen no-one else would. IMO that was actually quite a selfless act given where he was at with the whole thing. I'm not so sure that he really made an effort to resolve the early equipment issues, or for that matter to help the overall budget.

I suppose now, we can see more clearly what he was up against with Gordon Brown and the machine. I think that's the thing though for me with his statement over Oleg Deripaska. It wasnt necassary for him to say what he said, and it was much more so for Gordon. I infer from that that he was told to say what he did, and that was the point where any of the credibility he had from his actions over Kelly lost all merit with me.

Whatever inner strength he had in that moment, he wasn't able to consistently draw upon.
