Bose Sounddock or Bower and Wilks Zepellin.

I have a Bose but if I was buying now would be tempted by the Zepellin.

Does the Bose have a radio? I notice the Zepplin is Ipod only and it puts me off. (looking too)

Depends how much you want to spend. I got a Logic 3 i-Station 3 years ago and sound quality is pretty good for the price (£40ish at the time) and its compatible with pretty much all iPods and the iPhone.

Harmon Kardon do fantastic docking stations, quality sound but look a lot better than the Bose system. Check out the Round one, looks like it should be made by B&O very nice

IMHO

Bose for sound, but if you're looking for something portable then try the logitech mm50. Sounds great (nowhere near as good as the bose though!), has an external plug for non ipods so that i can play the radio on my phone through it and has its own internal battery so you never need buy aa batteries by the gross again. And it's pretty dinky...

For all out sound excellence you will not go wrong with a Bose, Bang & Olufsen, Harmann Kardon etc sort of thing but your wallet will be pretty empty. For pretty good sound quality (not quite perfect but still rather excellent) I got the intemp one. It's in Comet at £25 at the minute, it charges you iPod while you listen, has all sorts of adapters to fit all kinds of iPod/iPhone etc in and the ones you get with new iPods fit in it. And at £25 you could buy this AND the biggest iPhone you could lay your hands on for the price of the Bose sort of things...

I've been very happy with my JBL Onstage.

Got it in a Tesco sale late last year.

I think the ones I am talking about are a JBL / Harmon Cardon joint venture, is that the one......? I think they are very cool. I connect mine up to the B&O system otherwise I would get one....

It's the original Onstage.

This one:

Don't use the iPod in the lounge, as I have a media PC hooked up to my hifi system, but I bought the Onstage for in the kitchen / dining room.

It's great for when I'm spending an evening cooking.

I would get one that is iPhone compatible so it is future proof, incase you decide to get one/sell it at a later date. The majority are not.

I listened to one in the apple shop and sounded terrible compared to the other 2, it was the newer iphone compatible one.

Another very happy Bose owner in terms of sound - but it annoys the hell out of me that it doesn't have a radio or input...

The Bose is nice and compact, but the B&W Zeppelin sounds better if you have the space.

Or get the Bose with the battery pack for portability; I did and haven't regretted it. The Bose replaced a set of Logitech mm50 speakers which broke within two years.

Do you need portability? If not, I couldn't recommend these highly enough:

We have a set wall mounted above the kitchen window too.
