Hotel Recommendations in Amsterdam
Discussion
Dear all,
I've been invited to a stag weekend in Amsterdam in May next year,
but the best man who is supposed to arrange all the details is pretty useless, so I've agreed to research a range of accommodation.
Basically, there is a pretty diverse bunch of lads going, from studens on a tight budget to a few guys where budget isn't an issue.
One thing I do know is that we won't all be staying in the same place, so I'm looking for low / mid / high end recommendations if possible.
I stayed in the 'Boatel' a few years ago, and, although I know it has its place, I'm not staying there again
although it may be an option for some of the others.
HELP please - this should be a great weekend, but I really don't want to slum it this time.
PS. As I guess the 'Boatel' will feature for some of our number, it would be handy if the range of hotels are quite local to each other...

For those on a half decent budget NH Hotel in Spui is very good, there are occasional deals avaliable that makes it quite reasonable. Also try around Leidsplein, there are quite a few small hotels around there thet are clean and cheap. Leidsplein is about 2min on the tram away from Spui, 5min from the Dam. Both are really nice areas of Amsterdam.
Stayed there more than a few times, from s
tholes to 5star.
If you are out getting wasted, it is well worth booking a quality hotel outside the redlight district to crawl back to, believe me.
My tip is to book direct with hotels, you have plenty of time to get a good deal.
The international hotels have 2 x doubles in, so share rooms to save dosh.
Best value/location/standard I have stayed in was the 5* Radisson City Centre, tucked away, but still central and opposite a very cool and handy coffeeshop. Std room rate is looking like 269Euro, which is what, £100pppn. Worth it IMO & I'm sure we got a much better rate than that, when booking 10 rooms up direct.

The Bridge Hotel

i would check the rates at the lloyd:
http://www.lloydhotel.com/
the lloyd is unique in that it has rooms/suites from 1 to 5 stars so you may well be able to accomodate everyone in the same place. very nice hotel btw.
for a hostel, i would recommend this place:
http://www.stayokay.com/index.php?pageID=3207&...
its about 15min walk east from centraal station but highly worth it. best hostel i have ever stayed in, period. opened last year, very clean and of a far higher standard than any other hostel i've seen in the city.
stayokay also have another 2 more central hostels in the 'dam but haven't tried those:
http://www.stayokay.com/index.php?pageID=3207&...

there are some nice b&b's on this link but maybe a bit coupley for a stag trip:

for hostels try www.hostelworld.com. whilst there are decent hotels in the RLD [see plotter's link] i wouldn;t recommend hostelling there.
