so many

but a few that come to mind:

1. the first time we enter Reagans room in the exorcist when her upperbody is getting flung violently backwards and forwards on the bed and she is shouting for her mum in terror

2. when we first see the final anorexic zombie with hammer emerge form the shadows in REC

3. when the little girl in the dress looks up but we see the face of a really old woman in 'the others'

4. the top down shot of the little girl drowning at the beginning of Don't Look Now

5. some old film I can't remember (but would love it know if anyone knows) of a shirt that comes alive on a bed... its truly eerie, if my memory serves me correct the scariest thing i've ever seen on film

Twilight zone - with the thing attacking the plane engines... Or maybe the immortal line "Do you want to see something really scary ?"

School trip, watching Ouija Board (spelling?) and just at the bit where she is moving the board, one of our teachers had snuck outside, and smacked on the window.. Ah, I think one or two people practically hit the ceiling, girls screamed and ran (as did several boys).....

It's still my scariest film moment, purely because of my age at the time, and the fact I had managed to get in to see the film at the cinema under-age.

Ben Gardner's head rolling out of the hole in the bottom of his boat in "Jaws"...

Event Horizon, one of the best films ever, especially when seen in a cinema or somehwere with really loud surround sound.

Parts in The Grudge were the thing/girl is coming up the stairs/hallway in the hospital with the lights flickering...

that or the loft part where you catch a glimpse of it's eyes....

I turned the movie off... its odd, i'm not bothered by most movies, but that one just gave me the willys

Not sure if its an urban myth but I heard once that when Silence of the Lambs first came out Anthony Hopkins hadn't seen the final cut and wanted to do so. He had a bit of time one evening so snuck into a cinema to see it just after the lights had gone down so as not to be seen.

The bloke in front of him had been a bit of a dick throughout the film, chatting away etc.

Anyway as the titles started to roll Hopkins apparently leant over and put his hand on his shoulder. Bloke turned round and upon seeing Hannibal Lecter looming out of the darkness promptly shat his pants.

Watching the first 15 minutes of Angelas Ashes, then being told there was more than an hour of that crap left to go. If I hadn't managed to escape to the pub I'd don't know what I'd have done.
