If Obama were darker - would he stand a chance?

Now that that's under control... I don't think it's a degree of darkness per se, I think that a lot of people won't vote for him because he is black, much as many people will vote for him because he IS black. Degree of darkness isn't really an issue I don't think.
IMO if he wins it is going to be a lot closer than CBS would have you believe.

He will win, somehow.
Americans, well some, are strange beings at the best of times. There will be an attempt on his life by someone over there within the first year I should think.
I have said that all along. I lived in the states for a couple of years and TBH i think he will be assassinated or there will be an attempt to take his life before in no time. Sad i know but some of those red necks are crazy.Americans, well some, are strange beings at the best of times. There will be people who vote for Obama because he's coloured, and people who vote for McCain because he's white. The sooner everyone learns to accept this and live with it, the simpler life will be.
As for me, if the Conservative leader was a kick-ass type who wanted lower taxes, less state control and getting out of Europe, I'd vote for him whether he was black, white, green, blue or orange.

I agree, black is black. I dont think this panned out the way it was meant to somehow, Clinton was meant to win. To many the only thing worse than a Black President is a 72 year old Geriatric with a trigger happy running mate. Now that that's under control... But as it is the philosophy seems to be "This is the s
t that keeps Labour in so our best option is to offer the same s
t with a slightly different flavour and wait for Labour to implode". Which rather makes a mockery of the idea of having a choice of political parties.Simpo Two said:

To take a possibly incorrect analogy, how many of us would vote for a Muslim Prime Minister?

I have a profound respect for a country that can go from \'I have a dream\' to potentially electing a black President all within a generation. I\'m slightly though worried that maybe people will waver at the last minute and not choose the darkie
Shame you ruined a good post.
