The TV show. Imagine if I wanted to download the already aired episodes of Heroes season 3, through bittorent and for some reason the episodes I downloaded wouldn't play on my laptop as (I think it may be the reason) they all appear to be HD and don't work?

Where would someone get these episodes from and is there any reason as to why a laptop would go mental each time someone tried to watch them?

I think my mrs had the same problem with downloading season 4 of Supernatural, and she solved similar problems with Div X player

If I was going to do something like download torrents (not that I would being a fine upstanding member of the local community and all that) I would probably use VLC player as it seems to cope with just about anything ,well so I have been told wink

Also try Media Player Classic, it comes with a load of Codecs.

Your laptop, if it's a low power model, may struggle to play HD files regardless of whether you have the right codec. If VLC doesn't work then you will have to try non-HD versions.

The downloads are recorded from an HD source; not HD files.

It's a codec issue with your laptop.

I would recommend GOM Player - lighter and better than VLC and loads of codecs.

Likelyhood is they would be (if you had done this of course) .mkv files, making them complete buggers to use anywhere...

So?

All thats needed is for the correct codec to be installed on your laptop in order for it to decode the file.

As said above get VLC Player, and if that still doesnt work(unlikely) then install something called "K-Lite Codec Pack" wink

Yes, but that doesn't help if your pc is too weedy to play files that are encoded in a HD resolution. There are two things you need to play back files of that resolution and higher, the right codec and enough welly in your wotsit.

Granted, but that doesnt seem to be the problem the OP is describing.

Can't you just find non-HD files? I've got them all to date.

Ha, and once upon a time you'd just think 'Ah, Heros is on at X o'clock on Y day' and make sure you watched it. Now you need £2,000 of hi-tech kit and still can't figure it smile

recommended as well, plain simple, no pops, or other junk, looks a bit basic but works an utter treat.
