This was even reposted in the first PH thread I saw it in.

Which was a repost in itself, after this post:

http://pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f...

If that makes sense.

There is a giant bird eating spider some where in the jungle that screams as it leaps on to its prey. Bloody thing is the size of a side plate and can jump 20ft! Screaming......, how fu<king scared would you be!!!???

One of the main reasons that I've never been keen on going to Australia. I'm st scared of large spiders, I hate bugs & crawly things. Yeah I know I'm a wimp.

Not true at all.

The Giant bird eating spider is the Goliath tarantula and that does indeed grow to around 10inchs leg span, but the jumping 20ft and screaming bit... total bks. That comes from the camel spider myth stories.

I find it unbelievable that a spider's web could hold a bird of that size, any size really. Birds are quite powerful.

How did a bird get caught in a web, surely a spiders web isn't strong enough to capture something as large, and heavy, as a bird ?
