Lots of people try the threat. Some work, some just get cut off.

I'd not try personally. Although if they do cut you off, sign up under the missus name.

its always worked for my dad when he has done it. a few times he did actually want to leave but they tempted him with brilliant offers and the like so he stayed with them a few months more.

I had lots of trouble with my ordinary SKY box last year, phoned them and told them I was cancelling because of this, they gave me a free sky+ box, plus free installation and no extra on my monthly fee...but I would have left had they not offered something

Depends if you are in a cable area. If you aren't then they categorically will give you no level of customer service whatsoever.
I fking hate those slimy fking pieces of st with a passion.

A lot seems to depend on what time of the day/month is plus what your package is ,it does seem a call to cancel spurs them on to add something to keep you though

I cancelled our Sky subscription a few years back because it was too expensive/we didn't really watch it.

It took them over a year to actually cut it off.......

Maybe you're confusing the problem - maybe the wife did actually want rid of Sky Sports hehe

Um, aren't Sky offering a new HD box for £75 to existing customers now? Well worth it if you ask me, superb picture.

We cut down our deal to bare minimum the other day.

It was a difficult process, as if I'd burst into the telephone operative's house on christmas day and urinated on her children.

However, she did extend a couple of offers, something like 3 months cut price or a couple of channels free if I continued paying for something else.

We phoned twice in the one year to cancel and they gave us 3 months 1/2 price, the third time they cut us off, just your donald duck.

Seriously, think about how much a tenner a month really is. fk all, in the grand scheme of things. Sky HD is fking brilliant, and no mistake.

It's difficult to get any discount if you are only on the basic package, you are more likely to get say movies or sports for half price if you already have them and want to downgrade.
